SPRINGFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A head on crash early Monday morning in Springfield killed one man and seriously injured another.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release that the crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Dickman Road near Base Avenue.
Deputies found two vehicles involved in a head-on collision when they arrived on the scene. They say one vehicle was traveling east in the westbound lane.
One of the drivers, a 45-year-old man from Springfield, was pronounced dead on scene.
The second male driver from Battle Creek was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo with serious injuries.
The Sheriff’s Department says an accident reconstruction is underway to identify the cause of the accident.
Deputies were assisted by Springfield Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance, Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch, and Michigan Department of Transportation.
