ANTWERP TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM/FM) — A 30-year-old is a dead and an 18-year-old could face criminal charges after a collision at a rural intersection north of Paw Paw in Van Buren County.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 6:40 p.m. Saturday and determined that a teenager in a pickup ran a stop sign at 32nd Street and 45th Avenue and struck a car broadside, causing massive trauma to the driver of the smaller vehicle.
The impact of the collision forced both vehicles off the road and into a horse pasture. Attempts to revive the driver of the car were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The at-fault driver suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the truck did not require treatment.
No names were released, but deputies did state that both drivers were from Paw Paw.
They don’t believe alcohol or drugs were a factor. Tests will be conducted to make sure.
