GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kent County Juror sitting on a murder case was taken to the hospital after she apparently popped a few stitches from surgery just prior to becoming a juror.
It’s not clear what the juror did in the jury room to open the wound, but the Judge announced that she was bleeding and sent the rest of the jury home.
They are determining the fate of 23-year-old Lovily Johnson, who faces up to life in prison if convicted of the death of her six month old son Noah.
She is charged with leaving the infant untended for three days strapped into a car seat while she partied with friends.
The defense claims that sudden infant death syndrome or something else may have killed the child, but that was refuted by the pathologists who testified.
Deliberations will resume on Monday.
