COLON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – St. Joseph County crews had to clean up a stinky mess Thursday night after a semi-truck hauling liquid cow manure overturned on Orla Engle Road near M-66.
The driver, identified as Ryan James Allen of Sturgis, managed to get out of the cab. Allen told the Saint Joseph County Sheriff’s Department he slowed down and shifted into low gear for the turn but the shift caused the truck to flip.
The Sheriff’s Department says according to their investigation, the truck overturned when the manure shifted.
The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m..
Allen was taken to the Sturgis Hospital after complaining of pain but deputies cited him for the accident.
