COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A robo call was sent out by Coldwater Community Schools Monday night which told parents and students that an on-line threat had absolutely nothing to do with Coldwater High School.
Superintendent Terry Boguth said they contacted authorities after they were made aware of the post.
Coldwater Police were notified and the threat was investigated. It was found to be a posting about a school in New Mexico that was found a couple of days ago, and had nothing to do with Coldwater High School or any building in the district.
Boguth said many other schools around the country had to deal with this same social media post which had the same CHS initials.
Coldwater Police said in a statement that they received numerous calls from concerned citizens Monday in reference to the post. Citizens reported seeing a photo of a male holding a rifle with a caption suggesting that he was planning to shoot persons at “CHS”. An investigation revealed that this incident took place in Clovis, New Mexico.
Police say the suspect has been arrested for an incident that took place last Thursday and that the investigation revealed there is no connection whatsoever with Coldwater Community Schools or the City of Coldwater.
