BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek house connected to a double murder and several arsons in recent months has now been demolished.
In October, two residents at 203 Post Ave., Joseph Soule and his girlfriend Jaclyn Lepird were found dead and their landlord, Chad Reed is accused of killing them. Later that month, the first of five intentional fires were set at the house, with the most recent ones happening earlier this week.
Calhoun County Treasurer Brian Wensauer says the home had become a safety hazard. Following complaints by neighbors in the area about the string of arsons and the dark history there, Battle Creek and Calhoun County officials accelerated efforts to have the house removed.
