BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a Batavia Township man has been arrested in a bizarre case of alleged child abuse.
25-year old Jeremy Cook was taken into custody Wednesday night at his residence east of Bronson on US 12. Cook is accused of biting a 6-year old boy on his neck and then, according to the State Police, lying about the incident, claiming he was playing a game about werewolves and vampires with the youngster.
Troopers said the boy told a child protective services worker about the alleged January 10, 2019 incident. Cook’s girlfriend was also arrested Wednesday.
39-year old Tara Lyn Van and Cook are each facing a charge of lying to a police officer during an investigation.
Cook was arraigned yesterday on a charge of third degree child abuse and released on a $5,000 bond. He’s due back in Branch County District Court for a probable cause hearing April 4, 2019.
Van is free on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned April 15, 2019 .
