BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Battle Creek Police Department headquarter at 34 North. Division St., is closed again to the public, due to positive COVID-19 cases within the department.
City officials say four Battle Creek Police Department staff have tested positive this week and all are recovering at home. The city is following Calhoun County Public Health Department protocols, and the health department is working through contact tracing and additional testing, related to those who may have come in contact with the staff who have tested positive.
The building closed at 12 noon Friday.
“We want to do our part to protect the health and safety of our employees, and the public,” said Police Chief Jim Blocker. “We will close our building to the public to make sure we limit any potential exposure to the virus, and so we can following increased cleaning protocols.”
The situation does not affect the Police Department’s response to 911 calls.
