BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – One of the biggest summertime events in Branch County will not take place this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Bronson Polish Festival has joined the list of the events that have been cancelled for 2020.
Polish Festival Council President Candy Cox said in a e-mail on Thursday the council has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s festival which was scheduled to start on July 16.
Cox says the Council hope to offer a bigger and better festival in 2021.
It’s the first time in the 50 years of the annual event that the Polish Festival has been cancelled.
The three days of Polish Festival gives Bronson residents a chance to celebrate their Polish heritage with plenty of food, fireworks, polka music, the crowing of Polish royalty and a big Saturday afternoon parade.
But there are plenty of concerns among health officials about the gathering of large crowds in this year of coronavirus especially since a vaccine is not ready yet.
