BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — New developments and renovations have been announced for the former site of Arcadia Brewing Co. in downtown Battle Creek.
Thanks to the downtown Real Estate Improvement Fund, officials with Battle Creek Unlimited have awarded a $250,000 grant to Jay Andrew Development Co. to assist with the projects.
Arcadia left the location at 103 W. Michigan Ave. in 2017, and the 100-year-old building has remained vacant ever since.
The first project scheduled for the building will be fixing the large roof, which caved in on itself in October 2019.
After the roof is fixed, the rest of the building will be redeveloped. Future project plans have not been finalized, but ideas include placing new retailers in the first floor, such as bars or restaurants.
Officials plan to use the second level for apartments. It is estimated that around 20 units can be built.
Work on the roof is expected to be complete by spring, but no schedule of further developments has currently been established.
