ALLEN PARK, MI (WTVB) – The Detroit Lions begin training camp with practice today at their Allen Park facility. During camp, the team will hold an evening practice August 3 for police, fire and EMS personnel from Allen Park, Dearborn and Detroit. Lions Training Camp Family day will be held at Ford Field on August 6.
Detroit will also train with Pittsburgh two days before the preseason opener against the Steelers at Heinz Field August 12.
The Lions have signed linebacker Dominique Tovell. Tovell previously signed with the New Orleans Saints earlier this offseason as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Louisiana-Lafayette. He had 238 tackles in 50 games from 2012-15 for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Detroit also officially announced the signing of free agent wide receiver Anquan Boldin. To make room on the roster, the Lions released linebacker Jerry Franklin and wide receiver Damian Copeland.
