LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A federal judge has set a March 8, 2022 trial date for five men accused in a plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
The new date was set after defense attorneys for the accused said they needed more time to prepare their cases.
The trial was set to begin next month.
The five are charged with attempting to kidnap Whitmer in response to their displeasure at the restrictions she had announced regarding COVID. All five have pleaded not guilty, and are claiming entrapment.
A sixth suspect, Ty Garbin, has pleaded guilty, and has been sentenced to more than six years in prison.
