KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has issued a determination letter to the Broncos Kitchen Foundation officially recognizing the charity as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
This designation allows the hunger relief organization to accept charitable donations, officials announced Monday.
“We are thrilled by this news, and thank the IRS for expediting our application,” officials said in a statement.
The announcement comes as the Broncos Kitchen Foundation is preparing to officially launch its capital campaign from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 1 at their Wesley Foundation meal site.
Their goal is to raise $3.1 million dollars to purchase property, build an office/commissary, purchase food trucks and hire 20 to 25 employees.
Currently, Broncos Kitchen serves free dinners from 5 to 6 p.m. on Mondays at 58 West Student Apartments and Thursdays at the Wesley Foundation.
Kalamazoo area college students and their immediate families are eligible provided that the enrolled student provides a valid ID.
