BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – UPDATE: An 18-year-old Battle Creek resident has passed away after being shot last week and three suspects are in custody.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that the victim was identified as Cameron S. Williams.
The shooting happened just after 5 p.m. in the 500 block of West Jackson Street on November 14.
Police were called to the area and found Williams, who had been shot in the head. He passed away the following day.
Three suspects are in custody, with one identified as an 18-year-old man. The others are said to be juveniles.
A 17-year-old, believed to be the one who shot Williams, is being charged with open murder. The other two have not had charges finalized at this time.
Gang Activity
Police confirmed that this shooting, along with two others that happened in the area, have all been found to be gang related.
BCPD is now working with Kalamazoo law enforcement agencies to address these incidents.
