SPRINGFIELD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A bicyclist is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Calhoun County.
Deputies were dispatched to West Dickman Road near Avenue A in Springfield, west of Battle Creek, around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday for the crash involving a vehicle and a biker.
The bicyclist, a 70-year-old man from Battle Creek, was traveling westbound and was partially in the roadway when he was hit by a westbound vehicle. First responders attempted to save the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigator say that the bike did not have any lights affixed to it. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor and the Calhoun County Accident Reconstruction Team is still looking into the crash.
