CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Calhoun County will begin a new mobile recycling center pilot program in September.
The County received a 2020 EGLE Recycling Infrastructure Grant to purchase a truck and recycling trailer for use in rural townships to increase recycling access.
Based on data collected from use of the C&C Landfill Recycling Passes, the pilot program will start with collection dates in Athens Township and Tekonsha Township.
Collections at the Athens Township Hall will take place on the first Thursday of the month, starting September 1 and on the third Thursday of the month at the Tekonsha Township Hall starting on September 15.
Collections will be conducted between and 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on those two days.
This is a pilot project. Changes may take place to improve customer service or program efficiency.
The Solid Waste Program plans to expand rural collection locations if the pilot is successful.
