BREEDSVILLE (WKZO-AM) — A heavy vehicle and light corrosion is being blamed for a bridge collapse that has left the Van Buren County village of Breedsville inaccessible from the south.
Officials say the stretch of County Road 215 spanning the South Branch Black River dropped over a foot and may cost as much as $250,000 to replace. The town says it may pursue emergency state funding and and low-interest loans to pay for the repairs.
The structure was built in 1968 and recently passed inspection with a “fair” rating.
