KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday, Kalamazoo Metro announced changes to it’s bus route schedules due to a shortage of staff for its fixed route system.
Beginning Wednesday, October 7, the following busses will continue on an hourly route, and will not include any quarter-to-the-hour stops:
- 1 – Westnedge
- 2 – Portage
- 9 – Gull Road
- 14 – West Main
- 16 – Lovell
Route 12, Duke, will not operate until further notice.
Route 25, Parkview Campus, will follow the Friday time schedule with one bus in service.
Officials are encouraging riders to monitor all changes to Metro’s ride schedule this week while they are being adjusted. Specific information and updates about routes can be found at the official website, www.kmetro.com, through the myStop mobile app or through the official Facebook page.
Officials later confirmed with MLive on Wednesday that two of their bus drivers had been infected with COVID-19. Officials say they are continuing to take precautions against the virus, including the requirement of masks, hand sanitizer, and socially distanced riding.
Riders are also asked to only use the bus service when it is essential for the time being, and that more service changes to the fixed route system will be announced later in the week.
