KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners has approved the final paperwork, green-lighting the sale of a parcel of land for the new Event Center downtown.
They actually voted to make the deal in April, but it took this long for all the property and environmental inspections to be completed and about a dozen other issues to be finalized.
Commission Chair John Taylor says if all goes as hoped, it will be a major addition to the community.
Among the agreements, the county will be able to buy the square block at the south east corner of Kalamazoo and Westnedge Avenues back in five years if construction on the $300-million sports and entertainment complex hasn’t begun.
