KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It took less than 90 minutes for Kalamazoo to report its first homicide of the new year.

Bystanders were attempting to render medical aid including CPR. Officers continued with those lifesaving efforts and arranged for transport to a local hospital, where Weakley succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
During that same time, a second person sought treatment at an area hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
