ALBION (WTVB) – Dangerous driving conditions have set up today in parts of Southwest Michigan including I-94 and 131 Highway with blowing snow and periodic white outs. The weather wasn’t the problem late Tuesday in a crash on I-94 near Albion. A wrong way driver who got on the westbound lane of the interstate traveling east and collided with another car at high speed, nearly head on and put two innocent victims in the hospital.
Calhoun County Deputies say he was drunk. Deputies had already gotten reports just before midnight last night from other motorists about the wrong way driver and were on their way to the scene in Sheridan Township when the collision occurred. A young couple in their late 20’s from Jackson could not get out of the way of the wayward drunk and were last listed in stable condition. The At-fault driver, a 48-year-old from Clinton Township was booked into the Calhoun County Jail to await formal charges.
