I have driven a Jeep Wrangler for 90% of all the years I have been on road. In fact, I am currently rolling in my 3rd one. Her name is B.B., which is her nick-name, it stands for Baby Blue.
I have always been aware of the Jeep wave. And, if you see Jeep broken down you stop. I had never heard a Jeep owner being “Ducked”. I had no idea what it meant. The evening, I brought B.B. home I get ducked! I was so confused, so I looked it up.
Reader’s Digest explained the Wrangler Jeep Duck Trend…
“The movement now known as Jeep Ducking began in 2020, during the early days of COVID, in Ontario, Canada. A Jeep owner started placing Rubber Ducks on Jeep Wranglers making strangers, and travelers feel like they are part of something bigger and kinder.
I LOVE that! I have only been ducked a few times. The last time, I told the gal that I was going to name her Roxy. She said “You name your Ducks?” Of course, it’s me!
Let me introduce you to my Flock…
Big Blue Duck was the first one I got, and she is blue. It made sense to name ‘B.B.’.
There is ‘Honey’ because that ducking is dressed as a Bee.
Can’t forget about ‘Rex’, he is dressed up as a dinosaur
The white duckling with the hearts is ‘Lovey’
And, there is ‘Chris’ because he is dressed as a Christmas Tree.
I’ve got my Pink Cow duck and her is ‘Roxy’ after the woman who gave her to me.
I have one other duckling and it’s a sad story. I found her in open field that was being used for parking lot. With no Jeep in sight, I took her. I keep calling her my Ugly Duckling because she was not her flock. But I don’t think that is a nice name…I will figure it out.
As it has been famously stated on ‘Sesame Street’ by Ernie… “Rubber Duckie, you’re the one, Rubber Duckie you are so much fun!”
Tell you what, Rubber Duckies are so much fun!
