UNDATED (WKZO-AM) — It appears blue lights will stay on at Kmarts in Battle Creek, Marshall and Hastings, despite reported plans by the struggling big box retailer to shutter over 60 of its stores in 28 states by December.
Business Insider reports the closures will affect Michigan locations in Jackson, Fenton, Manistee, Byron Center, Grand Rapids, Alpena and Sault Ste. Marie. Remaining area stores were not included in the listing compiled by the news outlet.
Parent company Sears has not yet released a list of official closures.
Kmarts in Kalamazoo County closed in 2009.
The retailer’s operating loss approached $300 million last fiscal year.
