KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo Balloon Fest is underway on the Gull Meadow Farms property off Gull Road in Richland.
Farm owner Justin Wendzel says it’s more than just hot air balloons.
“There’s apple-picking, the corn maze, we’ve got our slides and our jumping pillows, our whole petting farm is open and, of course, we’ll have cider and donuts all weekend,” Wendzel said.
But Wendzel also said the balloons are the biggest draw. This year, 25 are slated to take part.
“The balloons will actually launch off-site and they’ll try to hit a target right here in our parking lot,” Wendzel said.
He also said some of the biggest crowds are expected after sunset under the glow of balloon burners.
“The balloon glow is probably one of the most well-attended things all weekend,” Wendzel said. “It’s kind of a sight to be seen.”
It’s free to view the balloons. Admission is required for the activities on the farm.
