HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – Two Indiana residents were arrested Wednesday afternoon after six police agencies were involved in a high speed chase through three counties while the suspects vehicle had an active methamphetamine lab inside of it.
Police in Fremont, Indiana say they got information of a wanted person and a possible meth lab in the 800 Block of East Toledo Street in Fremont. Officers saw a vehicle leave the home. Fremont Police and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department tried to make a traffic stop but the suspect vehicle took off.
Speeds reached as high as 100 miles an hour during the pursuit which went through Branch and Hillsdale Counties. It ended near Montgomery when the vehicle being pursued tried to drive through a field and got stuck in a swamp.
Fremont Police identified the suspects as 29-year-old Jeromy David Hurd of Garrett and 23-year-old Ashley Rose Eichinger of Auburn. They were arrested without further incident.
Police say they found multiple precursors for the manufacture of meth along with the alleged active meth lab. Hurd and Eichinger were taken into custody by the Branch County Sheriff’s Office and transported to their facility for incarceration.
Both are facing charges of possession of meth and operating and maintaining a meth lab. Hurd was also booked on a charge of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle. They are being held without bond pending their arraignments.
