EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Marshall Redhawks will play for an MHSAA Class B Girls Basketball championship on Saturday. Nikki Tucker sank the game-tying and game-winning free throws with 1.4 seconds left to lift the 7th-ranked Redhawks to a 43-42 upset win against #2 Bay City John Glenn in the last game of the night Friday at the Breslin Center. Tucker led her team with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Taryn Long added 10. The 25-1 Redhawks, champions of the Interstate 8 and winners of 25 straight, will take on 25-2 Grand Rapids South Christian for the Class B title tonight at 6pm. In last night’s other Class B Semifinal, the #3 Sailors eliminated defending champ and top-ranked Detroit Country Day 57-46.
In yesterday’s Class A Semifinals, Detroit Martin Luther King defeated St. Johns 56-48, while Warren Cousino got past Hudsonville 60-45.
The matchups for today’s MHSAA Girls Basketball Final games are all set:
- Class D: Pittsford (26-0) vs Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart (24-1), 10am
- Class A: Detroit Martin Luther King (24-1) vs Warren Cousino (22-4), 12pm
- Class C: Traverse City St. Francis (26-1) vs Ypsilanti Arbor Prep (24-2), 4pm
- Class B: Grand Rapids South Christian (25-2) vs Marshall (25-1), 6pm
