UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Calhoun Street on the north side of Union City was closed down for nearly an hour and a half yesterday afternoon after several law enforcement agencies were called because of an incident surrounding a reported problem concerning a man with a gun in a home. It happened just north of the Branch County line at 320 Calhoun Street in Calhoun County and started around 4:20 p.m. It wasn’t long before police decided it would be best to block any traffic from entering Calhoun Street as a precaution until the matter was resolved.
Village police and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department assisted Michigan State Police, who handled the complaint. A trooper was eventually able to enter the residence in question and shortly before 6 p.m., the subject inside was peacefully escorted out of the house.
There’s no word on the exact nature of the incident pending a possible news release.
