LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan State Police say former Michigan State University and Team USA doctor Larry Nassar was not one of the 20,000 sex offenders removed from the state’s sex offender registry because he wasn’t on it.
MSP spokeswoman Lori Dougovito says Nassar is serving a federal prison sentence, housed at FCI Lewisburg in Pennsylvania and people not incarcerated in Michigan “do not have the duty to register” as a sex offender in the state.
The Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office Facebook page indicated he was among the sex offenders removed after a Michigan Supreme Court ruling that people who committed crimes before July 1st, 2011 don’t have to register.
