COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Voters in the Comstock Public Schools district are being asked to approve a new bond issue that superintendent Dr. Jeff Thoenes says will not increase the district’s debt millage rate over the 2026 level.
Voters did not approve a $27.3-million bond proposal in May and also rejected a $31.8-million bond last November.
The district’s 2022 bond built the new Comstock STEM Academy, their first new school in over 50 years.
Thoenes says the district is one of just two in Kalamazoo County that don’t have modern heating and cooling and a new HVAC system will be installed if the bond passes.
This story has been corrected from an earlier version regarding the district’s debt millage rate.
