EMMETT TOWNSHIP KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A man believed to be at the center of a theft ring who was found at a home with stolen bikes and lawn equipment in Emmett Township has reportedly cut a deal with Calhoun County prosecutors that will result in a sentence of 3 to 20 years in prison.
Among the items found at Wesley Carter’s home, a child’s tombstone, taken from a grave in Barry County that the suspect reportedly planned to have re-engraved and used for a relative.
The 31-year-old entered no-contest pleas to manufacturing Methamphetamine, use of a firearm during a felony, and receiving and concealing stolen property.
Prosecutors reportedly used video recorded by his own security system to discover where he buried the tombstone in his back yard.
He may still also face charges in Barry County.
