BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A 31-year-old Battle Creek man may have been bluffing or just blowing off steam when he threatened employees at a Plant on Denso Road, a week after he was terminated, claiming he was armed.
He may have been deadly serious. Battle Creek officers weren’t taking any chances.
But the bitter former employee fled before they arrived. Officers spotted his vehicle at Beckley and Capital, which began a wild high speed chase, with the suspect exceeding 100mph, dodging in and out of traffic, and endangering pedestrians.
Whether he was bluffing before, he became a real threat when he got on the wrong way heading west in the eastbound lanes of the interstate and officers were able to force his car off the road and into the ditch.
They did not find a gun.
There were no injuries.
He is being held at the Calhoun County Jail pending charges.
