BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek man who shot another man during a drug deal that went sideways will serve less than five years in prison, after he claimed it was a case of self-defense.
25-year-old Robert Amerson testified that he was just there to buy marijuana last October at the Arbors.
He claimed it was the dealer, 22-year-old Kyle Brown who pulled the gun on him, and when they wrestled for it, brown was shot and subsequently died.
The jury found him not guilty of murder, but did find him guilty of being a felon in possession of a gun. He was given 57-months to 10-years on Monday.
