CENTREVILLE, MI (WNWN) – A former Athens High School science teacher who has already been charged with having sex with a student in Calhoun County is now facing more charges in St. Joseph County.
29 year old Tyler Millward was arraigned in St. Joseph County District Court Thursday on two felony charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is being charged there because prosecutors say some of the alleged sexual contact between Millward and the student occurred in St. Joseph County.
Millward was arrested in East Leroy July 13, 2018, then posted bond earlier this month and was released from the Calhoun County Jail. He was arrested again Wednesday and is now lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail.
In Calhoun County, Millward is being charged with using a computer to communicate with another to commit the crime of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of lying to police.
The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Police Department arrested Millward in an East Leroy apartment.
Calhoun County prosecutors allege that Millward used his phone to send texts to a 16-year-old female student he was meeting for sex.
Prosecutors also alleged that he lied to police about having sex with the girl, about texting her and about taking her to a hotel.
