COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County emergency management officials are warning of significant flooding in the Coldwater River area, with the potential failure of the Blackhawk Dam southwest of Coldwater. That potential flooding is expected to extend into the Pilot Knob area on the city’s west side.
According to Branch County Emergency Management Director Tim Miner, the Branch County Drain Commissioner’s Office is bringing in materials and equipment to repair the dam, which is located off North Behnke Road, near Bater Road. He says the amount of flooding will be dependent on control mechanisms that can being applied.
Miner is warning residents in the area to prepare for potential flooding problems.
Some areas of Branch County received up to three inches of rain during thunderstorms Friday.
