SOUTHWEST MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Multiple police agencies across Southwest Michigan are working together to bring victims of human trafficking home.
Those agencies included Michigan State Police, the FBI, the Kalamazoo Area Human Trafficking Task Force, the YWCA, and officers from Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Township, Portage, and Allegan County, among others.
During their operation over the weekend about 20 people were targeted as possible human trafficking victims and five of them were identified and recovered.
They’ll continue investigating with the hopes of identifying and saving other potential victims of human trafficking.
Anyone that suspects a child or an adult is a victim can call the 24/7 National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or Text 233733. If it is an emergency, call 911.
