BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Prosecutors say Brian Zanetti walked into his cousin’s Urbandale tile shop and in front of shocked customers, shot Frankie Zanetti in the head a point blank range in May of last year. He then jumped back into his car and drove home to Illinois, where he was arrested.
Yesterday Calhoun County Prosecutor David Gilbert dismissed the murder charge because psychologists say he is still mentally ill, and that isn’t expected to change anytime soon.
They say he is delusional, saying he has believed for years that his family was involved in organized crime, murders and castrations and that it was kill or be killed.
Zanetti will remain in a mental hospital, and if he ever does become sane, the charges will be reinstated.
