COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An animal rights group says they will be at the Clemens Food Group facility near Coldwater Tuesday morning to conduct what they are calling a peaceful vigil for pigs.
Farmed Animal Save and Lansing Animal Save called the Clemens facility a slaughterhouse and they say they are trying to raise awareness about the 10,000 pigs lowered into Co2 chambers at the facility every day.
The group claims 121 million pigs are slaughtered every year.
They call themselves a chapter of the worldwide Save Movement.
Group members say they are “a grassroots, direct-action and love-based organization that raises awareness about the victims of animal agriculture by bearing witness to those going to slaughter.”
This will be their first vigil at Clemens Food Group. Activists say they document the open trucks filled with live pigs going into the facility and coming out empty.
