SPRINGFIELD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a town home fire in Springfield that left one dog dead.
More than a dozen firefighters were called to the scene late Monday morning.
After searching the burning home, nobody was found inside.
During a second search two dogs were found in the living room, one behind the sofa and another in a corner.
They were carried out and given oxygen.
A four-month-old dog named Zeus pulled through, but sadly a two-year-old pit bull terrier named Kilo did not.
The fire began in the kitchen and gutted the two story townhome which is a total loss.
