PITTSFORD, MI (WTVB) – Pittsford Area Schools in Hillsdale County hopes to reopen on Monday after classes were cancelled on Friday due to a number of illnesses.
Superintendent Deanna Edens said in a letter posted on the district’s Facebook “that staff members have worked diligently to sanitize our school and take care of our students. Unfortunately, illnesses are still continuing to spread across our district.”
Edens said the decision to close last Friday was made after they consulted with the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency. Staff members once again disinfected all areas with hopes of providing a clean environment for the students to return on Monday.
Parents were asked to do not send children back to school or to any school function if they are vomiting, experiencing diarrhea, or if they have been running a fever. She also asked parents to keep students home until they have been cleared of any of the symptoms for 48 hours.
Parents were also told if possible to wash or sanitize any belongings that students regularly use.
