BANGOR TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man is in the Van Buren County Jail after shooting his girlfriend in the ankle.
Authorities were dispatched to the South Haven Hospital just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after a 28-year-old woman was dropped off there with the gunshot wound.
She said her and her boyfriend got into an argument in the 62000 block of 36th Avenue in Bangor Township when he hit her with a shotgun and then shot her.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Brandon McCollum, later returned to the hospital and was arrested without incident.
He is now in custody for an outstanding warrant, felony firearm, and for assault with intent to murder.
