HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – The phone scammers who call you and demand you pay a bond or else you will be arrested are apparently back and bothering Hillsdale County residents.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office says they have received numerous calls in reference to this scam.
Residents have gotten calls that tell them a warrant has been issued for their arrest and they need to pay money over the phone “for their bond” or they will be taken into custody.
Sheriff Tim Parker says they have been told when the number os called back, there is a recording that states “Sheriff’s Department” but no town listed.
Parker reminds everyone to never give anyone money over the phone.
He says his department or any law enforcement agency will never call you to tell you there’s a warrant for your arrest.
