HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A truck driver from suburban Detroit was sentenced last week in Hillsdale County following a June 28, 2018 crash which killed a Reading man.
The Hillsdale Daily News reports 42-year-old Robert Earl Martienssen Junior of Canton entered a no contest plea last month to a misdemeanor charge of moving violation causing death after he missed a stop sign and his freightliner collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of M-49 and Bankers Road.
While Martienssen will not have to serve any more jail time, he was ordered to serve the maximum two years of probation and he will not be able to get a commercial driver’s license during that time. Martienssen must also perform 40 hours of community service.
The accident took the life of 71-year-old Ronald Guy Richardson.
Richardson’s 10-year-old grandson and Martienssen were also injured in the accident.
