COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man with a criminal record that goes back almost two decades was arraigned Tuesday on four charges, following a Labor Day incident in Ovid Township in which the Michigan State Police say he broke into a home and threatened a man who lived there.
49-year-old Jamie Fuller is facing charges of first degree home invasion, felonious assault, assault with a dangerous weapon and attempted auto theft.
Bond was set at $250,000 and a probable cause hearing in District Court was scheduled for September 11, 2018.
The Michigan Department of Corrections web site indicates Fuller absconded from parole August 15, 2018.
State Police say the resident called Branch County 911 just after 6:30 a.m. Monday morning to report suspicious activity outside his home.
While on the phone with 911, the resident was allegedly confronted at a glass patio door by Fuller who then broke the glass and got inside. Fuller allegedly assaulted the resident and then went to the kitchen to get a glass of milk and a knife, which investigators say was used to threaten the resident.
Fuller fled when a Michigan State Police trooper and a Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived. He was eventually arrested after K-9’s were brought in to help search for him through a swamp and wooded area.
State Police say they suspect Fuller also allegedly tried to steal the resident’s vehicle from the driveway prior to entering the home.
