SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Bystanders came to the aid of a teenage boy from Athens Tuesday afternoon following a rollover accident in Branch County’s Sherwood Township.
The accident on Milligan Road west of Vanwormer Road was reported just after 4:00 p.m..
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the 17-year-old driver was alone in the eastbound vehicle when it went out of control.
The vehicle flipped end to end and landed upside down, trapping the driver inside.
Citizens helped lift the vehicle and get the youngster out.
He was life-flighted to Borgess Hospital and later transferred to University of Michigan Hospital for his injuries. At last report, he was listed in stable condition.
Deputies say speed was a factor in the case. Assisting Branch County Sheriff’s Deputies were citizens at the scene, Lifecare Ambulance out of Union City, Sherwood firefighters, the Michigan State Police and Bud’s Wrecker
