COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After a nearly one month delay, the Business Loop I-69 repaving project in the Coldwater area got underway Wednesday morning.
Work of the $1.5 million Michigan Department of Transportation project began at the Fenn Road exit south of Coldwater.
The project will make its way north and eventually into the City of Coldwater. There will be periodic one lane closures and motorists are being urged to proceed with caution through the work area.
The project was originally scheduled to start August 13th but it was pushed back to September 4th due to the schedule for the contractors.
Another delay took place last week when the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association locked out members of Operating Engineers Local 324 as part of a contract dispute. Union members are responsible for operating heavy machinery at road construction sites.
There will be single lane closures under flag control during the work.
Crews will be repaving four miles of the I-69 Business Loop from the Fenn Road exit north to Pierce Street in Coldwater.
The road will be converted from four to three lanes between Railroad Street and U.S. 12.
