PENN TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — A Marcellus man is injured after he rear-ended a semi-trailer in a construction zone in Penn Township.
Cass County Sheriff deputies say at about 1 p.m. Thursday they were dispatched to Decatur Road near M-60 to investigate a crash.
They say 82-year-old Burke Webb of Marcellus MI was driving southbound on Decatur Road when he failed to recognize a semi with a trailer parked in the roadway with its hazard lights flashing.
Webb rear-ended the trailer, receiving minor injuries.
He was loaded into a Pride Care Ambulance and taken to Dowagiac Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the truck was not in the vehicle when it was struck.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
Airbags were deployed in Mr. Webb’s vehicle and seatbelts were used.
