CLIMAX (WKZO AM/FM) — An early morning crash in Climax Township has left a St. Joseph County man with life-threatening injuries in a Kalamazoo Hospital.
Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to East R Avenue and 46th Street at about 4:45 Saturday morning.
Sgt. Christopher Hoffman says it appears the 29-year-old simply failed to make the turn at the intersection and instead went off the road and crashed into the trees.
He had to be cut and pried out of the wreckage. The Sturgis resident was taken to Bronson Methodist E.R. where he was admitted in critical condition.
Investigators are running blood tests but they aren’t sure if it was speed or something else that caused the crash.
