ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The third defendant in a murder case has been found guilty by jury as of Wednesday, January 15.
Defendant Theron Hunt was found guilty in the murder of Kentucky truck driver Kevin Johnson while he was visiting in November 2018. The murder was part of a drug deal that went bad.
Hunt faced charges relating to murder, felony firearm possession, criminal sexual conduct, and more. He is scheduled for sentencing on February 12th and will be facing a mandatory life sentence.
One other suspect in the case, Kayla Cheney, has already been sentenced for her role in the crime, having plead guilty to second-degree murder in a plea bargain.
The third suspect in the case, Tyler McNeil, will be facing a charge of armed robbery. He previously plead guilty in November 2019 and will be sentenced later this month.
One woman who was a witness in the case, Stanielle King, testified against the suspects.
In November 2018, King had contacted Hunt looking for meth. When the three suspects arrived, they had a gun. After King was pepper-sprayed in the face, they proceeded to bind her with tape and search the house for valuables.
Ultimately, Johnson arrived during the incident and was shot.
