ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police have arrested a couple for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of personal belongings from several Southwest Michigan storage facilities.
Battle Creek natives 38-year-old Eric Morgan and 36-year-old Terri Vantuinen were first caught after officers discovered them breaking into storage units in Allegan County on April 19th.
MSP Detective Sgt. Bryan Fuller told WWMT that the two suspects were contacted but were not taken into custody at the time because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Both Morgan and Vantuinen were arrested after being discovered breaking into a Hastings storage unit, with each charged with criminal enterprise and conspiracy.
Michigan State Troopers began to investigate other incidents of possible theft by the pair, issuing a search warrant at the couple’s home where they found a sizable amount of stolen property worth thousands of dollars.
Police are still working to catalog the stolen goods and identify the owners of the property. An active investigation is underway to determine whether the couple acted alone or if others were involved in the theft.
MSP said in a released statement that the two are believed to have stolen from storage units in at least 11 locations in Allegan, Barry, and Calhoun Counties, including:

- M&M Storage- Shelbyville (Allegan)
- Lake Doster Mini Storage- Plainwell (Allegan)
- Lakeridge Self Storage-Middleville (Barry)
- Tires 2000 Storage units- Middleville (Barry)
- Hastings Storage- Hastings (Barry)
- Clear Lake Storage- Dowling (Barry)
- Riverfront Storage and Sons- Hastings (Barry)
- Mid Lakes Mini Storage- Delton (Barry)
- West Point Corner Storage- Battle Creek (Calhoun)
