KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) Mary Little Tyler of Kalamazoo has been honored with the Council of Michigan Foundation’s 2016 Community Philanthropy Award for 60-years of dedicated service to the Kalamazoo Community through her volunteer leadership.
The award was bestowed last week at the Annual Governor’s Service Awards held in Saginaw and hosted by the Michigan Community Service Commission.
. “I love Kalamazoo,” Tyler said, “and I think it’s just one of the greatest places there is, and I want it to stay that way. If there’s any way I can help do that, that’s my motivation.”
In addition to her volunteer work with more than a dozen area nonprofits, she has served as board chair of Borroughs Corp. and as president of the Kalamazoo College Women’s Council.
According to Kalamazoo Community Foundation President/CEO Carrie Pickett-Erway, “It would be difficult to find anyone in our community who has not benefited from Mary’s work.”
